You could learn to dive anywhere, so why go all the way to Galapagos? The water is comfortable and clear, but the sea life that you will encounter is what really makes Galapagos diving unique. Think playful sea lions, giant rays, hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, and marine iguanas. Plus, during your classroom education, you can spend your free time relaxing with marine iguanas on beautiful beaches and exploring San Cristobal Island’s unique ecosystems and wildlife. All the while, you’ll stay comfortable and dine at Casa Opuntia, our beautiful waterfront hotel.
The Galapagos Islands are recognized as one of the world’s truly unique dive spots. Many divers consider a visit to the Galapagos as a highlight of their diving careers. Be warned – doing your first dives here might make your local dive spots seem boring!
Although the Galapagos Islands don’t have massive reefs or bathtub-warm water, the dense population of beautiful and unique marine life is incomparable. The area’s isolation, nutrient-rich water, and protection as a marine reserve lead to an extremely high density of marine life. The Islands’ unique species thrive in this environment, creating an underwater zoo of rare and endemic species unlike any other.

Tijeretas: Cerro Tijeretas is a rocky seaside hill on San Cristobal Island. Above water, Tijeretas is known for its frigate bird population, but under the waterline, we’ll meet green sea turtles, manta rays, sea lions, and Galapagos garden eels, as well as schools of grunts and angel fish. Currents are minimal and the bottom is shallow, making Tijeretas a perfect first dive. Two immersions.
Bahia Predial: Named after a former fisherman’s collective, Bahia Predial is another excellent beginner dive spot on San Cristobal Island. Like Tijeretas, this sheltered bay has very calm water, making it ideal for our first dives. Bahia Predial is also known for its large sea lion population. Diving with these playful creatures, who fearlessly interact with us underwater, is a truly memorable experience. Two immersions.
