DAY 1: SANTA CRUZ ISLAND
Your guide will meet you at the Baltra airport after your flight from the mainland, where we will transfer by water taxi to the master suite at the Angermeyer Waterfront Inn on Santa Cruz Island. Enjoy a gourmet lunch in our beautiful waterfront restaurant and review and finalize your schedule with your guide. We’ll spend the rest of the day and the next morning on Santa Cruz Island, before transferring to Isabela Island in the afternoon. You will have time to bask in the sunset and relax before a romantic dinner, and flower decorations will adorn the bed when you return your suite in Angermeyer Waterfront Inn. (L,D)
SANTA CRUZ ISLAND ACTIVITIES:
Charles Darwin Research Station: The Charles Darwin Research Station is the most important research and conservation facility in the Galapagos. Scientists at the Research Station rear endemic plants, land iguanas, and giant tortoises for scientific, educational, and conservation purposes. Learn more about ongoing efforts to conserve the natural environment of the Galapagos, as well as interesting details about the evolutionary history of many endemic species, including the giant tortoise and Darwin’s finches.
One Hour Full-Body Massage: Enjoy a luxurious, full-body couple’s massage. Your licensed massage therapists will customize your massage based on your input. Feel the stress melt away with relaxing music, soft lighting, aromatherapy oils, and a variety of massage techniques.
Explore the Highlands: Hike into the highlands of Santa Cruz to witness a truly gorgeous environment and observe many of the endemic plants and animals of the Galapagos. Visit El Chato nature reserve to interact with giant tortoises in their natural habitat and see a wide variety of wildlife. Delve into cavernous lava tunnels once used as a hideout by the pirates who frequented the Galapagos. Finally, hike up to Los Gemelos, a pair of volcanic sinkholes covered by a gorgeous forest of endemic Scalesia trees.
DAY 2 TO 4: ISABELA ISLAND
After a delicious lunch at Angermeyer Waterfront Inn, a short small aircraft flight takes us on to Isabela Island, where we settle into the elegant Iguana Crossing Hotel. Your luxurious master suite features amazing panoramic views of the beach and ocean, and you’ll be welcomed with some special personalized amenities. How you spend the next few days is up to you. Whatever activities you choose, you’ll enjoy fresh gourmet meals, sublime tropical beaches, and elegant facilities with your sweetheart. (B,L,D)
ISABELA ISLAND ACTIVITIES:
Snorkel Tintoreras Islets: Across the bay, Tintoreras is a group of small, rocky islets, home to the famous Galapagos penguin and lots of pristine, secluded beaches and coves. Explore the secrets of this fascinating environment and snorkel with rays, marine turtles, and tropical fish.
Coastal Ecosystems Hike or Bike: Setting out north of the hotel, you’ll embark on a hike or ride through an incredible variety of coastal ecosystems. You will find miles of white sand beaches, thick mangrove forests, lava tubes, brackish lagoons, and an intoxicating poison apple forest. As you hike or ride, you will observe giant tortoises, flamingos, blue-footed boobies, and other wildlife. We’ll also prepare a romantic picnic lunch in one of our secret hideouts along the coast. Your hike or ride ends at the Wall of Tears. This towering, isolated wall of lava rock is a relic of Isabela’s history as a penal colony.
Sierra Negra Volcano Hike: Isabela is formed by six active shield volcanoes, which makes it one of the planet’s most volcanically active places. One of its most spectacular volcanoes is Sierra Negra. We’ll drive up the flanks of this giant until the road ends, and then continue on foot through a surreal volcanic landscape until we reach the rim of the breathtaking, six-mile-wide crater, where you’ll take in stunning views of the surrounding volcanoes and sea.
DAY 5: TRANSFER TO BALTRA ISLAND AIRPORT
All good things must come to an end, and today it’s time to bid a fond farewell to these enchanted islands, home to memories you’ll never forget. After breakfast and one last walk on the beach, a small aircraft takes you back to Baltra Island to connect with your flight to the mainland. (B)
